We are very grateful to Able2Achieve who this last week have been working each day, often in heavy rain, and have done a wonderful job.
Overgrown bushes and hedges have been cut back, Compost heaps and banks have been created, and we are well on the way to creating a wild-flower meadow.
Pictures will be coming soon!
St. Andrew’s Church, Thorne Coffin.
Dear Parishioner;
As you know, there have been very few services held since Covid, and the church
is now proposed to be linked with SS. Peter and Paul, Lufton.
Services at Lufton are held every Sunday evening at 6.00.p.m.,
to which you will be made very welcome.
Services are normally Holy Communion on the Third Sunday of the month,
and Evening Prayer on all other Sundays.
However, we have been asked if it is possible to reinstate the occasional service
at Thorne, and of course it is.
Therefore we propose to hold a Service on
Advent Sunday, 1st. December, at 3.00.p.m.
This will be an Advent Carol Service lasting about 45 minutes, followed by a cup of Tea.
There will also be a
Christmas Carol Service
on the Sunday after Christmas, 29th. December, also at 3.00.p.m., again followed by a cup of Tea.
Monday 14th. October
to
Friday 18th. October,
10.30.a.m. – 2.00.p.m.
A team from Able2Achieve,
under the leadership of Joe Knights
will be working in Thorne Coffin Churchyard, preparing to manage it
to create a ‘Green’ Haven for plants and wildlife.
Please come and see what they are doing; if you are able to help for a couple of hours during the week, that would be wonderful. If physical work is a step too far for you, gifts of snacks and cake to keep the workers’ energy levels high, would be very welcome! They will be making the Jubilee Hall their base during the week.
They would be particularly grateful if someone with a mower could volunteer
to do a cut at the back of the Churchyard to make access easier, and also
the loan of a chipper for dead wood, and the loan of wheelbarrows.
